This paper presents an investigation into denial-of-service (DoS) and distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) flooding attacks on next generation mini-computer web-servers. A resourceful mitigation strategy is proposed and a solution is implemented in software. The inplemented solution is tested and found to be an effective method that thwarts DoS attacks and curtails DDoS attacks.
